Building a Mosaic Pattern Barn Door

This was really fun to do.  Very tedious, but equally rewarding.  The end result is just jaw-dropping.

The pattern I chose was inspired by BuildAndCreateHome's mosaic island project.

As with any project, I started by putting a pencil to paper.  Once I had a good sketch, I transferred my design to the door with sharpie and chalk.  Then came the tedious part.  Roughing in each board, cutting them to size and making sure they fit together tightly.  All the while, keeping everything square so as not to have crooked edges.

When doing stuff like this, it's always a good idea to start from the center and work your way out.  This guarantees that your pattern is balanced down the middle.  As you can see from the photo it was covering an arched doorway and I wanted to make sure that the patter aligned with the center of the arch.
